Perifit Wearable Breast Pump review

November 30, 2025 by realgraceshines 1 Comment

Imagine Elvie’s less chic cousin, and you get the Perifit breast pump. Those of you who have been reading the blog for a few years know my love-hate relationship with the OG Elvie. It was the first wearable breast pump I ever owned and truly an innovator in the breast pump space. While not a…

CENTR Fitness App Review: Can You Get Fit Like the God of Thunder?

January 3, 2025 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

The short answer is YES! You can probably get fit like the God of Thunder doing the workouts in the CENTR app but you might be a little hungry. Before I get into all of my thoughts, let’s start with some background. CENTR was founded by Chris Hemsworth in 2019. It was inspired by Chris’…

Why I Can’t Write Lately

January 16, 2024 by realgraceshines 2 Comments

If writing is a muscle then mine is atrophied. It started the first-year of law school. I walked into that legal writing class with a mind formatted for creativity and exited it reformatted into Wonder Bread toast. I used to write stories like it was breathing. I can’t finish a story now to save my…

A Portable Breast Pump Comparison for All my Elastigirls: Elvie Stride vs Baby Buddha vs Pumpables Genie Advanced

July 31, 2023 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

I know what you’re thinking, Grace why is this comparison also being directed to the women with elastic breast tissue when they can literally use a traditional flange that suits them. And you’re right, ordinarily it wouldn’t matter what your breast tissue is like but since we’re including the Elvie Stride in this comparison that…

It happens to even the most cautious of us. Whether its at the beginning of your breastfeeding journey or when you start to wean at some point you are going to experience a breast clog, also referred to as a plugged duct. Most women experience their first one between 8 to 12 weeks postpartum (if…

UPDATED!! Wearable Breast Pump Comparison for all my Elastigirls: Elvie vs Momcozy vs Willow Go

February 6, 2023 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

“The future is now.” At least that’s what I thought when I bought my Elvie pumps a couple weeks after Rigel was born. I was pretty convinced that these pumps would have milk overflowing my house. The reality was a bit more complicated. I have learned a lot since my first breastfeeding journey. While wearable…

Packing the hospital bag has become a kind of ritual for soon-to-be Moms and we’re all wondering if we’re packing the right things. 2nd Trimester Recap: Here Comes the Chaos

October 3, 2022 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

Second trimesters are usually marked by feeling better and being more active…well I was active all right, I was terrorized by a three-year old that wanted to make it very clear that he was not enjoying this transition to life in Pittsburgh. I get it, three-year olds want to push boundaries but I was not…

1st Trimester Recap: An Industrious Start to Pregnancy

June 25, 2022 by realgraceshines 1 Comment

After a less than ideal fertile window, where I came down with a cold and thought ‘no way did I ovulate this week.’ I started to feel funny. I was craving sugar and kept feeling dull cramps days before my period was even due. I don’t get cramps before my period, I really don’t have…

Why Cardio is Essential for Moms

April 25, 2022 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

I know you’ve probably watched hundreds of instagram reels, Youtube videos, swipe videos, and ad breaks touting how you don’t need cardio, cardio is making you fat, and cardio is ruining your gains. Allow me to present the argument that not only is doing cardiovascular activity important but cardio is ESSENTIAL for Moms. That’s right…

2 Months ~ Devin is a tall girl with the appetite to match. She laughs at all of Mama’s jokes and thinks her siblings are fascinating. She doesn’t like it when you break contact and thinks chores suck. She’s working on rolling over but doesn’t see much urgency in getting it done when you’ve got a Mama that can do it for you. One Month ••• At one month old Devin loves milk though she sometimes overestimates how much of it she can handle • she loves to look out the window at the leaves falling and the squirrels scurrying • she thinks her siblings are a bit nuts • and that Daddy is the best human on Earth • she thinks Mama’s okay too but she also might be nuts 😅 (yes this post is 12 days late Mama is surviving) First outing as a family of 5 to support Rigel’s running. 🏃🏻 It’s a girl!! Welcome to the world Devin Naomi! Born 09/18/25 • weighing 8lbs 1oz • and 21 inches long. She’s our little miracle. Devin means ‘divine’ and we have witnessed God’s grace with her entry into this world. And Naomi after her maternal great grandmother; may she be just as feisty as she was. Got dressed up recently! 29 weeks 💐 2017 eclipse got engaged. 2024 eclipse watched it with my husband and kids. Dreams do come true!
