A few weeks ago, I was commiserating with one of my work girlfriends about how expensive beauty products were and how I kept buying things that just didn’t resolve any of my beauty issues. She mentioned that she had been hearing about this company called Deciem that offered an affordable skincare line called The Ordinary. I immediately googled it and arrived at their website only to discover that they had tons of potent formulations to treat all kinds of skin concerns for a fraction of what other skincare companies offered.

I then proceeded to think about what my biggest concerns were. For me, I have been fighting a decade-long battle with under eye circles. A result of both genetics and hyperpigmentation due to all the wonderful sun here in Florida, they’ve gotten worse over time. It seems I’ve tried everything on the market to tame them but nothing seemed to help. I decided to tackle that so I ordered the caffeine solution 5% + egcg , for a whopping $6.70. Then I realized that I really needed some sort of a chemical peel to exfoliate so I also ordered aha 30% + bha 2% peeling solution , that only cost me $7.20.
Due to the high demand that they’ve recently been experiencing, the order took almost two weeks to arrive but for the price I paid for these high-end quality formulations, it seemed to me to be worth the wait. The packaging was simple and concise with great quality bottles to protect the formulas from degrading.
I started using the Caffeine Solution first since that was my biggest concern and took less prep time. The solution is actually a serum that comes with a dropper. I place a drop or two on the tip of my ring finger and lightly pat all along the dark circles around my eye, including the dark patch on the eyelid. I’ve been doing this before bed and in the morning when I wake up. There’s a slight tingle when you first put it on as it’s being absorbed. Once it’s fully absorbed you look smooth and depuffed and the circles look visibly diminished. However, what I have been most impressed with is how the improvement of my dark circles has lasted. So to me, it does not seem to be a temporary fix but rather a permanent improvement. I find myself needing to wear less and less concealer around my eyes. When I do need concealer, the concealer seems to need to work less hard to cover up what remains there. Plus it seems to simply adhere better when applied on top of the Caffeine Solution.

The unexpected miracle worker though is the AHA & BHA Peeling Solution I decided, almost as an after-thought, to add on to my order. I let it sit around for almost two weeks before I finally gave it a whirl and let me tell you whatever is in this red potion, works! It didn’t even irritate my crazy sensitive skin. It’s also a serum that you put all over your face in a thin layer. You then leave it on your face for 10 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. It looks like something out of a horror movie when it’s on but when you wash it off and feel that baby soft skin you’ll be hooked! I even discovered that I could use a pinch of serum as a spot treatment when my rosacea acted up a week ago resulting in a cystic pimple. The pimple is almost completely gone now.

Overall, I’m loving the results I’m getting with these two products and will continue to use them. In the future, I’m considering purchasing one of their Retoniod serums to replace my Neutrogena night cream that I previously discussed in my skincare regime blog post.
Perhaps one of the best things about The Ordinary and Deciem is their philosophy of honesty in their advertising and keeping costs affordable for their customers. They are completely upfront on their website about what the formulations contain and what they don’t. They believe that companies should not overcharge their customers simply because of pretty packaging. I absolutely love that! But it gets better, they believe so much in the products they’re offering that they have a 365-day return policy. That’s right, if you hate it you have up to one year to return it and get your money back. So you really have nothing to lose and nothing but good skin to gain.
**This post was in no way sponsored by Deciem. I bought the products and have been enjoying them and wanted to share my experience with my wonderful followers**
Let me know if you’ve tried The Ordinary and what you thought of the product line.
