Perifit Wearable Breast Pump review

November 30, 2025 by realgraceshines 1 Comment

Imagine Elvie’s less chic cousin, and you get the Perifit breast pump. Those of you who have been reading the blog for a few years know my love-hate relationship with the OG Elvie. It was the first wearable breast pump I ever owned and truly an innovator in the breast pump space. While not a…

A Portable Breast Pump Comparison for All my Elastigirls: Elvie Stride vs Baby Buddha vs Pumpables Genie Advanced

July 31, 2023 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

I know what you’re thinking, Grace why is this comparison also being directed to the women with elastic breast tissue when they can literally use a traditional flange that suits them. And you’re right, ordinarily it wouldn’t matter what your breast tissue is like but since we’re including the Elvie Stride in this comparison that…

February 6, 2023 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

“The future is now.” At least that’s what I thought when I bought my Elvie pumps a couple weeks after Rigel was born. I was pretty convinced that these pumps would have milk overflowing my house. The reality was a bit more complicated. I have learned a lot since my first breastfeeding journey. While wearable…

Things to Do with Your Toddler on Valentine’s Day

February 5, 2022 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

My Mom used to make a big deal about holidays for me and it’s something that I’ve tried to continue with Rigel. I remember her always getting me little Valentine’s gifts and doing crafts with me. I’m pretty sure most of my stuffed animal collection were given to be by her for Valentine’s Day so…

Toddler Christmas Gift Guide 2021

November 26, 2021 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

This is my third Christmas Gift Guide and unlike a lot of other bloggers my motivation for creating these lists comes from my own desire to brainstorm gift ideas for Rigel, along the way I stumble on other cool items that I would love to buy but Rigel probably wouldn’t go for them. Instead of…

Rigel’s Favorite Books for Black History Month

February 5, 2021 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

Some of you may not know this but before I was getting stress-induced upper respiratory infections from litigating in front of the crabbiest judges in South Florida, I spent most of my time in libraries digging up dusty old books and looking at microfiche (not a single Gen Z-er knows what microfiche is). I love…

Toys for Every Kind of One-Year-Old

June 29, 2020 by realgraceshines 1 Comment

It’s amazing how quickly babies grow! Before you know it they’re curious and active toddlers completely unsatisfied with the soft, safe, cutesy toys they’ve been playing with up to this point. I got to thinking about good toddler toys as I was looking for toys for Rigel’s first birthday. I can’t believe it’s already here!…

Transitioning Baby to Solid Foods

April 20, 2020 by realgraceshines Leave a Comment

So you’ve gone to the pediatrician and they’ve given you the go-ahead, you can start introducing solid foods. You’re excited because maybe if they start eating real food they’ll sleep through the night or you can cut back on a couple of bottle feedings. But is it really going to be as simple as just…

2 Months ~ Devin is a tall girl with the appetite to match. She laughs at all of Mama’s jokes and thinks her siblings are fascinating. She doesn’t like it when you break contact and thinks chores suck. She’s working on rolling over but doesn’t see much urgency in getting it done when you’ve got a Mama that can do it for you. One Month ••• At one month old Devin loves milk though she sometimes overestimates how much of it she can handle • she loves to look out the window at the leaves falling and the squirrels scurrying • she thinks her siblings are a bit nuts • and that Daddy is the best human on Earth • she thinks Mama’s okay too but she also might be nuts 😅 (yes this post is 12 days late Mama is surviving) First outing as a family of 5 to support Rigel’s running. 🏃🏻 It’s a girl!! Welcome to the world Devin Naomi! Born 09/18/25 • weighing 8lbs 1oz • and 21 inches long. She’s our little miracle. Devin means ‘divine’ and we have witnessed God’s grace with her entry into this world. And Naomi after her maternal great grandmother; may she be just as feisty as she was. Got dressed up recently! 29 weeks 💐 2017 eclipse got engaged. 2024 eclipse watched it with my husband and kids. Dreams do come true!
